Procedure to build a startup

Student Startup

  • Establish a small and medium-sized enterprise or venture enterprise by (under)graduate

Faculty Startup

  • Establish a small and medium-sized enterprise or venture enterprise by utilizing the technology and know-how
    possessed by UNIST faculty or a third party while in office or on leave of absence
  • When a faculty takes office as a representative or executive of a company that starts a business
  • When a third party owns at least 50% of shares with voting rights in a small or medium-sized enterprise or venture enterprise

Process of application to work with concurrent position

  • application

    Submit application to concurrent position (faculty → department of major)
  • 1st review

    Hold a human resources committee by the department of major
  • 2nd review

    Hold a human resources committee by Industry-University Relations
  • approval from the University President

    Approve the submitted application to concurrent position
  • personnel appointment Academic Affairs Team

    Personal appointment to the concurrent position
Student startups don’t need to be deliberated by the related committee. However, when the student starts a business using university-owned technology, you must sign a technology implementation contract according to Startup Regulations of UNIST.
